Community Projects

Faith in action! That is the goal of the St. Michael’s Community Outreach Projects (SMCOP) committee. Through a variety of activities, outreach partners, and events, SMCOP brings the love of Christ to those in need in tangible ways.  Would you like to volunteer for upcoming Outreach Project?  Sign up to volunteer here:

North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry
St. Michael and All Angels was a founding member of the food pantry together with other congregations of varying faiths in the San Fernando Valley. Each week we collect food at our Sunday services. These non-perishable food items help feed the hungry. The pantry primarily feeds the unemployed, senior citizens, and the homeless.

Holiday Cheer
Each December St. Michael’s provides a giant Christmas party for needy children in the San Fernando Valley right here on our campus. Hundreds of new outfits and toys are given to children of all ages at this event. We work in partnership with MEND and Good Shepherd Center for Women to provide transportation to St. Michael’s for this over-the-top party, which brings cheer to so many families in need.

SoldierCare
St. Michael’s SoldierCare Project is a humanitarian, non-political outreach to wounded veterans.  The program ranges from hosting VIP LA weekends as a welcome break from rehab, to providing emotional, financial and spiritual support for the vets and their families. SoldierCare stands with these remarkable men and women as they return home and create their new lives.  It is an intimate, powerful and life changing process.

Get on the Bus
St. Michael’s participates in the yearly “Get on the Bus” program, which provides transportation for children to visit their incarcerated parents. We provide gifts for each child, and many volunteers even take the day-long journey to the prison with the children.

Prison Chaplains
St. Michael’s partners with PRISM and several parishioners serve as chaplains at the Twin Tower Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles. PRISM is a ministry of chaplaincy and advocacy to county jails, juvenile halls and hospitals in Los Angeles. Chaplains offer pastoral care, spiritual direction and practical support to the incarcerated, their families, and the sick and dying. PRISM advocates for the marginalized of our society, striving for justice, peace and respect for the dignity for all people.
